Preseason WNIT broadcast
to 32 million homes

November 10, 2003 – The Championship game of the 2003 Preseason WNIT women’s basketball tournament will be carried by various networks throughout the United States, totaling 32 million homes.

The championship is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, Nov. 23. The game will be held on the campus of one of the two semifinal winners, which will be known after semifinal games finish Nov. 20.

The TV team will feature Tracy Warren calling play-by-play, Becky Hammon providing color commentary and Renee Carlson on the sidelines.

The championship will air on numerous networks, including MSG and Empire Sports in New York; NESN in the Boston area; FSN Chicago; CSN Mid Atlantic and Comcast SportsNet in Philadelphia.. For an up-to-date list, see below, or watch the game via satellite

Field Announced For
2003 Preseason WNIT
 

June 26, 2003 – The 16-team field for the 2003 Preseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament was announced today.

The field for the prestigious tournament that kicks off the women’s college basketball season includes teams that appeared in last season’s Top 25 polls such as Texas Tech, UC Santa Barbara, Rutgers, Western Kentucky, Utah, Liberty and Cincinnati. All games will be played on home campuses, which are determined after each round.

The tournament opens Nov. 14-15, with second-round games on Nov. 16-17, semifinals on Nov. 19-20, and the championship on Nov. 23.

The event features seven teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last season: Texas Tech, Western Kentucky, Utah, Santa Barbara, Rutgers, Liberty and Cincinnati.

In last year’s Preseason WNIT, No. 4-ranked Kansas State captured the title with an 88-66 victory over No. 14 Penn State. Kansas State went on to a 29-5 season, setting school records for victories.
