CHICAGO — With the starting lineup handling the lion’s share of the duties, DePaul muzzled the attack of St. Bonaventure on Sunday to move on to the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT.
The Blue Demons (2-0) will face Indiana or Chattanooga on Thursday, Nov. 19, while the Bonnies (1-1) will play later this week in the consolation round at Drexel. The Indiana-Chattanooga contest is set for Tuesday, Nov. 17 at Indiana.
St. Bonaventure trailed 55-37 after three quarters and scored six quick points to narrow the margin, but a 3-pointer by Megan Podkowa settled the Blue Demons for the duration. DePaul’s bench played sparingly and register just 10 points overall.
The Blue Demons were led in scoring by Jessica January, who closed with 19 points; she also filled the boxscore with totals of six assists, five steals and four rebounds. Podkowa added 14 points and 13 rebounds, with Mart’e Grays and Chanise Jenkins each scoring 13 points. DePaul fought through to a 45-30 rebounding edge and added 13 steals.
