First-round action tips off on Wednesday, March 20 and concludes on Friday, March 22. A total of 32 games will be played in round one and all games are hosted by participating schools.
This year’s field is one of the strongest in WNIT history with 36 of the 64 teams winning 20 or more games this year. This ties the record set in 2012.
A record 10 teams in this year’s field were crowned regular-season champions in their respected conferences - Army (Patriot), Eastern Illinois (Ohio Valley), FGCU (Atlantic Sun), Pacific (Big West), San Diego State (MWC), Seattle (WAC), SMU (CUSA), Texas Southern (SWAC), Toledo (MAC), and UALR (Sunbelt).
The championship game will be played on Saturday, April 6 and will be televised live and in HD at 3 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
