BLOOMINGTON, IN — Indiana used a 12-0 late in the game Tuesday to come back against 24th-ranked Chattanooga and earn a spot in the Preseason WNIT semifinals.
The Hoosiers (2-0) will play at DePaul on Thursday, Nov. 19, with tipoff set for 8 p.m. ET, with the winner facing Baylor or South Florida in the title game on Sunday, Nov. 22. That game is set for a 3 p.m. ET tipoff and will be televised by CBS Sports Network. The Lady Mocs (2-1) will host Southern Miss in the consolation round on Friday, Nov. 20; that game starts at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Indiana trailed 37-33 with about 20 seconds to go in the third quarter, but sophomore guard Tyra Buss scored six straight points in a fourth-quarter run that send the Hoosiers ahead. Chattanooga’s offense went cold in those moments and scored just six points in the final quarter, after ringing up 19 points in the third quarter.
Buss led the way for the Hoosiers with 16 points; she added six rebounds and five assists. Fellow sophomore Amanda Cahill scored 13 points along with her seven rebounds, and Alexis Gassion came through with 10 points.
The Lady Mocs got 13 points and five rebounds from Keiana Gilbert, while Chelsey Shumpert scored 12 points. Jasmine Joyner fought for seven points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots. Chattanooga was just 3-of-4 from there free-throw line and had 18 turnovers.
