LINCOLN, Neb. – Sophie Cunningham scored 18 points to go with 10 rebounds, and Sierra Michaelis added 17 points on 4-of-11 shooting from 3-point range for Missouri, who took advantage of a cold night of shooting by Nebraska on Monday to move into the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT.
The 25th-ranked Tigers (2-0) will play either Washington or Colorado State in a semifinal game set for Thursday, Nov. 17.
Missouri took a 30-16 lead at halftime and held the Cornhuskers at arm-‘s length the rest of the way, controlling tempo with a 49-39 edge in rebounding and working past 16 turnovers. Cierra Porter added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the visitors.
Nebraska (1-1) was paced by Jessica Shepard, who finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. The Huskers shot just 16 percent from the field, but get a chance to improve on that in the consolation round, where they will host Colorado State on Friday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m. ET.
