ANN ARBOR, MI – Guard Katelynn Flaherty and center Hallie Thome could not be slowed by Virginia Tech, and the Wolverines reached the Postseason WNIT semifinals for the second consecutive season.
Michigan (26-9) will face Villanova or Indiana in the semifinals, which will take place next week.
The Wolverines took charge against the Hokies (20-14) with a 43-25 scoring edge in the middle two quarters. Flaherty scored 29 points and added eight steals, and Thome closed with 27 points and five rebounds. Michigan shot a robust 52 percent from the field.
Virginia Tech got 17 points and six rebounds from Vanessa Panousis. Regan Magarity added 12 points and eight rebounds, and Chantette Hicks closed with 14 points. The Hokies were unable to do much from the free throw line, going just 2-for-6 overall.
