Haiden Palmer led the Bulldogs in scoring for the second straight game finishing with 18 points. Keani Albanez added 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds, Sunny Greinacher chipped in 14 and Setphanie Golden with ten.
Gonzaga outrebounded UT Martin 52-39 and held the Skyhawks to 20 of 75 from the field. The Zags finished with 24 assists on the game.
Tiara Caldwell scored 13 points and six rebounds for UT Martin and teammate Heather Butler chipped in 12.
LSU Over Saint Joseph’s, 80-64, Advance to Semifinals
The No. 15-ranked LSU women’s basketball team advances to the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT with a 80-64 win over Saint Joseph’s in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Lady Tigers will face the winner of Quinnipiac at Louisville.
LSU (2-0) outrebounded Saint Joseph’s 50-30 and held the Hawks to 23 of 62 from the field (37.1 percent). DeShawn Harden scored 19 points and a game-high five steals in the win. Theresa Plaisance finished with 15 and Danielle Ballard added 12.
Erin Shields scored a game-high 23 points including hitting seven of 12 from behind the arc for Saint Joseph’s (1-1). Sarah Fairbanks pulled down nine rebounds and scored 11 points.
This was the first-ever meeting between the teams; LSU is now 8-1 all-time against schools in the current Atlantic 10 Conference.
No. 11 Oklahoma Defeats Wichita State, 89-70
Four Oklahoma (2-0) players score in double figures and advance to the semifinals of the WNIT after a 89-70 win over Wichita State (1-1). OU will host the winner of UT Martin/Gonzaga on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. ET.
Sooner guard Sharane Campbell finished with 24 points and six rebounds. Teammate Morgan Hook added 15 points and dished out six assists; Nicole Griffin and Aaryn Ellenberg each chipped in 14. OU hit 29 of 57 shots from the field (50.9 percent) and held the Shockers to 38.1 percent.
Wichita State’s Alex Harden scored 24 points in 40 minutes of action. Kelsey Jacobs finished with 15 and Jamillah Bonner added ten points and seven rebounds.
This was the first meeting between the two teams since 2003 when the Sooners won 89-59. OU is now 13-6 all-time against Wichita State and have won the last five meetings.
