SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Top-ranked Notre Dame shook off an erratic start against Fordham in Round 2 of the Preseason WNIT on Monday, pulling away in the second half to earn a spot in the semifinals.
The Fighting Irish (2-0) will host Green Bay on Thursday, Nov. 17 in one semifinal; tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
Arike Ogunbowale and Lindsay Allen each had 13 points for the home team, and Brianna Turner added 10 points. Notre Dame was able to control matters through rebounding, holding a 45-31 edge in that category, and managed to work around an unusually high number of turnovers (16).
Fordham (1-1) kept it interesting for much of the first half as Notre Dame’s offense sputtered; the Irish were 0-for-5 from 3-point range. But the Rams had their own issues at the start, shooting 24 percent from the field with 10 turnovers in the first half. Long-range shooting didn’t represent much help for Fordham, either, as the visitors were 2-of-19 overall.
G’mrice Davis had nine points, 15 rebounds and four steals for Fordham, while Danielle Burns added eight points. The Rams will host Little Rock in consolation round action on Nov. 19; tipoff is set for 12 p.m. ET.
