UTEP out-dueled Colorado on Friday night to advance to the quarterfinals of the Postseason Women’s NIT.
The Miners downed Colorado 68-60 in front of a school-record crowd of 8,234 fans. They will host their next round against Washington beginning at 7 p.m. MT/9 p.m. ET Monday, March 31.
The teams, which hadn’t played each other since 1982, were locked in a 50-50 tie with 5:54 left in the game. From there, Chrishauna Parker scored six of her 10 points as she also finished with 12 rebounds for her third straight double-double, all in WNIT games. Teammate Kristine Vitola led all scorers with 22 points.
UTEP (27-7) has the third-most wins in school history as the Miners out-rebounded Colorado 43-26.
For the Buffs, Jamee Swan led with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Colorado finishes the year with a 19-15 record and its fourth straight postseason appearance.
