Villanova, JMU pull off road wins
in WNIT second-round games
 
Saturday, March 22, 2008 – Villanova and James Madison each won second-round games by beating Big Ten teams on the road Saturday night.

Villanova defeated Wisconsin 60-54 and James Madison used overtime to beat Indiana 86-81. Villanova will play the Colorado-Gonzaga winner, and James Madison will play at Kentucky on a day to be determined.

In other second-round games Saturday, Texas Tech downed Texas State 82-49 and awaits the winner of Sunday’s Boise State-TCU game. Michigan State also advanced to the quarterfinals with a 74-66 victory over Bowling Green. The Spartans will wait until Monday night's Evansville at Kansas game to find out which of those teams will visit East Lansing, Mich., on Thursday, March 27.

In first-round action, Virginia Commonwealth beat host Charlotte 80-67 and advances to play a second-round game at Michigan. That game will be at 7 p.m. ET Monday.

Drake had to overcome a strong Green Bay team (26-6) in the second half to pull out a 65-56 first-round victory at home. Drake (23-10) will travel to Illinois for a second-round game Monday at 7 p.m. CT.
