CBS College Sports Network to broadcast
championship game of Postseason WNIT

Wednesday, March 26, 2008 - CBS College Sports Network will broadcast the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) championship game live on Saturday, April 5 (4:00 PM, ET). The game will be broadcast nationally for the first time ever and played at the home site of one of the two WNIT Championship teams. “We are excited to showcase the WNIT championship game nationally on CBS College Sports Network,” WNIT executive director Brent Amick said. “Year in and year out, this game has been one of the most well-attended games of the year. It’s great to be able to reach a national audience for a game that has such tremendous crowds and atmosphere.”

"This game will be a fitting finale of another exciting season of women’s basketball on CBS College Sports Network,” said Tim Pernetti, Executive Vice President, Content, CBS College Sports Network. “The WNIT is a terrific tournament and a great showcase for the sport. We are happy to be part of it.”

Last year’s WNIT championship was played in front of a sellout crowd of 15,462 fans at the University of Wyoming. Wyoming out-dueled Wisconsin 72-56.

The Postseason WNIT features a 48-team field. The tournament offers 31 teams automatic berths – one per conference – and then selects 17 at-large teams. The WNIT begins March 19 and culminates April 5. All games are played at participating schools.
