November 20, 2010 – Missouri State stopped Toledo’s 14-game home win streak Saturday with a 73-69 victory in the consolation round of the Preseason WNIT.
Casey Garrison scored 32 points for Missouri State, who was able to do what no other visiting team had done in more than a year at Toledo. For the Rockets, Melissa Goodall had 17 points and eight rebounds in the final game of the tournament for both teams.
James Madison and Central Florida battled to the finish Saturday, with JMU claiming an 82-78 overtime victory. JMU’s Dawn Evans sent the game into overtime when she was fouled on a 3-pointer with 18.2 seconds left in regulation and hit all three free throws. Evans finished with 34 points. UCF’s Chelsie Wiley led her team with 19 points on the night.
In other consolation games Saturday, Lamar capped a homestand with a 74-58 balanced team victory over Valparaiso and had five players score in double figures. In the other game at Lamar, Austin Peay defeated Utah Valley 73-69. Earlier in the day at JMU, Saint Francis PA edged Iona 77-69.
