Preseason WNIT Championship on CBS Sports Network
 
Sept. 20, 2011 – The Women’s National Invitation Tournament announced today that the championship game of the Preseason WNIT will be televised by CBS Sports Network.

The championship game will air live beginning at 2 p.m. ET Sunday, Nov. 20. The matchup will feature the two finalists from the field of 16 invited programs. The field is headlined by Baylor, Notre Dame, and UCLA.

“We are excited to showcase the strength of this fall’s Preseason WNIT teams,” WNIT director Renee Carlson said. “The championship game will spotlight teams that are in the running for the NCAA title this spring.”

The Preseason WNIT, now in its 18th year, features some of the nation’s top teams from 16 different conferences. The field includes Akron, Baylor, Chattanooga, Detroit, Drexel, ETSU, Hartford, Howard, Indiana State, Long Island, Manhattan, McNeese State, Notre Dame, Tennessee Tech, UAB, and UCLA. All games are hosted by participating schools. Baylor will host every round it plays in, and could meet Notre Dame in the finals if both teams remain undefeated.

The broadcast team features Thad Anderson on play-by-play duties, and Ceal Barry providing color commentary. Recent WNIT champions include Connecticut, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Purdue.
