48-team Field Announced for 2007 Postseason WNIT
 
Monday, March 12, 2007 – The first 48-team field in the history of the Postseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament was announced tonight.

For the first time, each of the nation’s 31 conferences will be represented in the WNIT. The tournament expanded to 48 teams this year to accommodate an automatic berth for each of the conferences.

The WNIT kicks off postseason action Wednesday, with first-round games. Sixteen teams will play in that round, and then feed into 16 second-round games. All games throughout the tournament are held on the campuses of participating schools, and no seeds are designated.
