Oklahoma, ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press Top 25 Preseason poll, paired outside shooting with the inside presence of Courtney and Ashley Paris to advance to the second round of the Preseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
Courtney Paris had 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Ashley Paris had 11 points and 14 rebounds for Oklahoma, the Big 12 preseason favorite. Danielle Robinson added 13 points, six assists and five steals for the Sooners, who had six players score in double figures.
For UC Riverside, which was chosen to win the Big West Conference, Kemie Nkele scored 31 points on 12-of-24 shooting.
Oklahoma will play Middle Tennessee in a Round 2 game starting at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday, Nov. 19.
Middle Tennessee earned a spot in that game by defeating visiting Lafayette 85-47 in Saturday’s other Round 1 game. Middle Tennessee is picked to win the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference, while Lafayette returns four starters from last year’s winningest year in a decade for the program.
