NEW ORLEANS 76, CSUN 73
New Orleans, LA – Randi Brown could not be stopped on Friday night. Brown's game-high 38 points played a large part in the Privateers' comeback victory over CSUN, 76-73.
CSUN led almost the entire game. If not for Brown's performance, Channon Fluker would be a clear candidate for player of the game. Fluker finished with a monstrous 32 points and an insanse rebounding total of 20. Despite her MVP caliber play on the court, it was the Matadors' 37 turnovers that plagued the offense, leading to the New Orleans comeback.
A burst of energy from the home side and the home fans produced 29 fourth quarter points for the Privateers. Along with Brown's solid night, Kayla Mundy tallied 13 of her own. It wasn't a perfect night for the Privateers on offense, shooting just 22-72 (30%) from the field, but it was their ability to handle the rock, committing just 12 turnovers that kept New Orleans in the game and paved the way to victory.
New Orleans will move on to face Houston at 4:30 p.m. CT in the final round of the Consolation Bracket. CSUN will get one more contest, facing Milwaukee at 2 p.m. CT in New Orleans.
