DeKalb, IL – Northern Illinois took a double-digit lead after one quarter and rebuilt their advantage by eight more points in the third quarter to move past Northern Iowa in the consolation round of the Preseason WNIT. The Huskies (2-1) got a career-high 17 points from Errin Hodges, while Ally May and Courtney Woods each scored 12 points. May also had eight rebounds; Northern Illinois did have 20 turnovers but came away with a 44-33 edge in rebounds. The Panthers (1-2) were led by Karli Rucker, who closed with 22 points. Taylor Hagen added 16 points and 11 rebounds; Northern Iowa shot 34 percent overall, 22 percent from 3-point range. NEW MEXICO 72, HARTFORD 65 Albuquerque, NM – Jaisa Nunn had her way underneath the basket, ringing up 32 points and 11 rebounds as New Mexico eased past Hartford in the consolation round of the Preseason WNIT. The Lobos (2-1) saw their lead cut to 68-63 after a 3-pointer from Hartford’s Lindsey Abed with 1:42 left in the game. Nunn came through with a basket and free throw at the 1:16 mark to make it 71-63. New Mexico enjoyed a 45-27 lead in rebounds and saw Jayla Everett score 15 points, and Aisia Robertson scored 10 points. The Hawks (1-3) got 22 points from Sierra DaCosta, and Abed finished with 19 points. |
