The Wolfpack will play Southern Cal in second round action on Sunday, March 20, at 5pm EST in Reno. USC (20-12) slipped past UC Santa Barbara (19-12) 67-64 to move on. California (18-15) will advance to the second round against Colorado in Boulder following a 74-60 win over Cal Poly (18-13) Thursday night. BYU advances to the second round and will host Utah State on Saturday, March 19th, at 5 p.m. EST after a 75-60 win against Denver. The Cougars improve to 24-8 on the season as the Pioneers end the season at 19-12. This is the sixth time and second straight that the BYU women’s basketball team has been selected to compete in the WNIT. In the postseason tournament, the Cougars have now compiled a 7-5 record in five appearances. The Colorado Buffaloes (16-15) slip past UC Riverside (19-13) 71-62 and move on to host a second round game. Colorado''s Chucky Jeffery led all scorers with 19 points, teammate Brittany Spears added 18. This is CU''s third trip to the postseason WNIT, and improve to a 5-2 tournament record. The Buffs also participated in the 1999 event (1-1) and reached the 2008 semifinals (3-1). Shala Jackson scored 19 points to lead Illinios State (21-10) to a 72-59 win over Central Michigan. ISU now leads the all-time series with CMU, 7-1. The Redbirds will face Wisconsin in the second round on Sunday at 2 p.m. EST in Madison. Illinois State’s berth in the 2011 Postseason WNIT puts the Redbirds in the postseason for the fifth-consecutive season. ISU made WNIT trips in four of the last five years and appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2008. Arkansas (20-11) rolls past Lamar (25-8) 91-65, to face Missouri State in round two action. Missouri State advanced after a 76-65 win over Rice. MSU improves to 24-10 on the season and Rice falls to 18-14. Northwestern (19-13) will face Alabama (17-14) in round two of the WNIT after an 89-63 win over Creighton on Thursday night. Alabama defeated Memphis 80-69 to advance. Tulane improves to 23-10 and moves on to second round with 61-31 win over Southern (20-12). Tulane will face Oral Roberts (22-10) in the second round. Auburn (16-15) moves past Tennessee Tech 68-54, and will face Toledo in the second round on Saturday at Noon EST in Toledo. Oral Roberts (22-10) defeated TCU 78-74 and will now face the winner of the Tulane/Southern game in the second round. The Horned Frogs end their season 22-11. The Golden Eagles are making their second-consecutive trip to the WNIT, and third as a program. Utah State scores triple digits and earns spot in second round with win over Arizona, 103-95. The Aggies (18-14) and Wildcats (21-11) met for the first time since the 1986-87 season. USU is now 6-4 all time verse UA. Duquesne (23-8) wins at home in first round of WNIT with 64-56 victory over Kent State at the A.J. Palombo Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Duquesne will now face Kansas in Lawrence on Saturday at 8 p.m. EST. The Jayhawks won 79-54 over Wichita State in Wednesday night''s action. St. Joseph''s will travel to Boston College to face the Eagles on Saturday in the second round of the Postseason WNIT after a 72-66 win against VCU. St. Joseph''s moves to 20-11 on the season and VCU falls to 19-12. Eastern Michigan beats Michigan 67-59, as fans storm the court in celebration in the first round play at the Postseason WNIT. EMU (23-12) will face UNC Wilmington (24-8) who defeated Richmond, 63-54. Syracuse (23-9) will move on to the second round of the Postseason WNIT with an 77-53 win over Monmouth (23-10). St. Bonaventure’s Jessica Jenkins scored a game-high 20 points on 5-of-10 from beyond the arc securing a 77-43 win over Lehigh (21-11). St. Bonaventure (21-11) will now play Syracuse in round two of the WNIT. In other action, Boston College defeated Yale 85-61 and will move on to face St. Joseph’s. BC moves to 19-12 on the year and Yale falls to 14-15. This is the Eagles'' third trip to the WNIT. BCU is now 5-2 in the tournament with a Final Four appearance. Virginia handled Morgan State 69-56 and will now face Loyola-Maryland in the second round. UVA is now 17-15 for the season and MSU ends a successful season at 17-15. Virginia has participated in the WNIT four times (1980, 2006, 2007 and 2011) and holds a 6-4 record in ten games. It is Virginia''s 29th overall postseason appearance.
