Oregon State 66, UC Davis 48 Oregon State (19-12) cruises to 66-48 win over UC Davis (17-13) in first-round action of the Postseason WNIT. Thais Pinto led the Beavers with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Courtney French finished with a team-high nine points for UC Davis. Utah 69, Utah State 58 Utah (16-15) used balanced scoring with five players in double figures in a 69-58 win over Utah State (21-10). Utah advances to the second round to face Washington. South Dakota 61, Drake 53 South Dakota will host Colorado in Round 2 of the Postseason WNIT after a 61-53 victory over Drake. The Coyotes shot just over 53 percent as a team from the field and had three players finish in double figures (Hegge 20, Roche 15, Wilson 13). Memphis 60, Chattanooga 59 Memphis overcame an 8-point deficit at the half to defeat Chattanooga 60-59 in Round 1 of the Postseason WNIT. Jasmine Lee led the Tigers with 20 points and 16 rebounds in the win. Missouri State 81, UMKC 79 Missouri State holds off UMKC 81-79 in Round 1 of the Postseason WNIT. Missouri State’s Karly Buer led all scorers with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Tulane 68, Mississippi Valley State 61 Tulane overcame a 3-point deficit at halftime and outscored Mississippi Valley State by ten in the second half to advance to Round 2 and face Texas Tech. Tulane moves to 23-10 on the year and Mississippi Valley State falls to 18-14. This was the first postseason tournament appearance for Mississippi Valley State in program history. Illinois State 69, Central Michigan 68 Illinois State holds off Central Michigan 69-68 in the Postseason WNIT. Candace Sykes led the Redbirds with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Crystal Bradford led the Chippewas with 23 points and 11 boards. Texas Tech 85, Eastern Illinois 71 Texas Tech (20-13) advances with a 85-71 defeat over Eastern Illinois (22-9) and will face Tulane in Round 2. Virginia 59, Howard 56 The Virginia Cavaliers (23-10) slipped past the Howard Bison (24-9) in overtime 59-56 to advance to Round 2. Virginia’s Lexie Gerson led all scorers will 18 points. Appalachian State 79, UNC-Wilmington 73 Appalachian State (26-6) defeats UNC-Wilmington (20-13) 79-73 and moves on to face NC State in Round 2. Five Mountaineer players scored in double digits and shot just over 52 percent as a team from the field. St. Joesph’s 67, Boston University 56 St. Joseph’s will host VCU in Round 2 action after a 67-56 win over Boston University. Temple moves to 22-10 on the season and Boston University falls to 23-9. James Madison 64, Davidson 49 James Madison (25-7) will host Wake Forest in Round 2 after a convincing 64-49 win over Davidson (22-10). Temple 75, Quinnipiac 60 Temple (22-9) moves on to face Harvard in the Round 2 of the Postseason WNiT after a 75-60 victory over Quinnipiac (22-10). VCU 72, Bowling Green 71 VCU slipped past Bowling Green 72-71 to advance to Round 2. Courtney Hunt scored 30 points for the Rams and teammate Andrea Barbour added 20. Jessica Slaggle finished with 23 for the Falcons of Bowling Green. North Carolina State 88, High Point 78 North Carolina State (19-15) defeated High Point (20-13) 88-78 to advance to Round 2 despite a 29-point effort from High Point’s Shamia Brown. Bonae Holston led the Wolfpack with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Wake Forest 72, Charlotte 61 Secily Ray finished with 21 points to help lead Wake Forest to a 72-61 win over Charlotte. The Demon Deacons (20-13) move on to Round 2 of the Postseason WNIT as Charlotte (16-14) ends their season. Villanova 58, American 39 Villanova moved past American 58-39 in first-round action of the Postseason WNIT. The Wildcats move to 18-14 on the season and the Eagles of American finish their season at 23-8. Harvard 73, Hofstra 71 Harvard (18-11) slipped past Hofstra (19-12) 73-71 and moves on to face Temple in Round 2 of the Postseason WNIT. Brogan Berry led all scorers with 26 points and hit 5 of 9 shots from behind the arc for the Crimson. Shante Evans led Hofstra with 24 points and 16 boards. South Florida 76, Florida Atlantic 20 South Florida (18-13) moved past Florida Atlantic (17-13) in a convincing win 76-20 and will move on to face Florida International in the Round 2. Jasmine Wynne led South Florida with 20 points going 9 of 13 from the field and dishing out 5 assists. Chenise Miller led the Owls of Florida Atlantic with 7 points and 9 rebounds. Drexel 57, Fairfield 41 Tyler Hale scored 18 points to help Drexel defeat Fairfield 57-41 in tonight’s Round 1 action of the Postseason WNIT. Drexel improves to 19-13 on the season and Fairfield’s season ends at 24-9. Florida International 75, Stetson 47 Florida International knocks off Stetson 75-47 in Round 1 of the Postseason WNIT. The Golden Panthers (23-10) outscored the Hatters (23-11) by 20 points in the second half and move on to face the South Florida. FIU’s Jerica Coley led all scorers with 21 points on 9 of 17 shooting. Victoria McGowan led Stetson with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Richmond 76, Miami (OH) 54 Richmond cruised past Miami (OH) 76-54, in the first round of the Postseason WNIT. The Spiders move on to the second round and will face the winner of Virginia/Howard. Genevieve Okoro led Richmond with 19 points and Abby Oliver finished with 14. Redhawks’ guard Maggie Boyer led all scorers with 20 points. Richmond moves to 23-8 on the season and Miami (OH) falls to 21-10. |
