TEXAS A&M 83, HOUSTON 65
College Station, TX – Texas A&M took the lead 16 seconds into the contest against Houston and never looked back. The Cougars utilized an efficient third quarter to draw within seven, but the Aggies closed the game on a 23-12 run to seal up the victory, 83-65.
Danni Williams was brilliant all night long. Sinking five three-pointers, Williams tallied up a game-high 21 points also pulling down four rebounds and dishing three assists. Khaalia Hillsman (19 points, 11 rebounds) and Anriel Howard (11 points and 14 rebounds) each had double-doubles along the way.
The Aggies move on to Round Two to take on Louisiana Sunday, November 12, at 2 p.m. ET in College Station.
Houston managed four players with double figures and tallied six three-pointers on the night. Defensively, the Cougars forced 18 Aggie turnovers and turned them into 14 points. Foul trouble forced head coach Ronald Hughey to go to his bench early, allowing Texas A&M to crawl away late.
The Cougars will play in the Consolation Rounds which are set to begin on November 17-18. Details on the Consolation Bracket will be released on Saturday, November 11.
