BIRMINGHAM, AL – Kara Rawls led a balanced scoring attack for UAB, scoring 14 points to go with six rebounds as the host Blazers advanced past Round 1 of the Postseason WNIT. The Blazers will face Georgia Tech, the 2017 runner-up in the tournament, in the next round.
Deanna Kuzmanic, a junior who topped the career 1,000-point mark for the Blazers this season, had 11 points and five rebounds. Katelynn Thomas came through with 11 points.
UAB (27-6) trailed by five points after the first quarter but rang up 20 points in the next 10 minutes to take the lead. The Blazers were just 3-of-18 from 3-point range but held the Lady Mocs to 37 percent shooting from the floor.
Chattanooga (17-13) got 16 points from Arianne Whitaker and Lakelyn Bouldin.
