INDIANA 73, PURDUE 51
BLOOMINGTON, IN – Indiana shot 54 percent from the field and outscored Purdue in the third quarter, 21-8, giving the Hoosiers enough room to cruise to victory in Round 3 of the 2018 Postseason WNIT.
The Hoosiers will face UC Davis or Kansas State in the quarterfinals. Tyra Buss finished with 24 points and six assists, with Jaelynn Penn adding 16 points and five rebounds. Indiana also was 9-for-9 from the free-throw line and forced 15 turnovers.
Indiana (20-14), which lost to Villanova in the quarterfinals of the WNIT last year, used a 9-0 run straddling the first two quarters to go up by 12 points, but Purdue got back in range by halftime, trailing by seven points. The huge third quarter by Indiana was too much for the Boilermakers (20-14), who lost all three times they played the Hoosiers this season.
Dominique Oden had 20 points for Purdue, and Andreona Keys had 11 points. Kym Royster hit her first six shots for the Hoosiers and closed with 12 points.
