Indiana 72, Marquette 69
Indiana fought off a fierce second-half rally today by Marquette to be the first team in the Round of 16 of the Postseason WNIT. Indiana (20-12) edged Marquette 72-69 to get within one win of the most wins in program history. Freshman Larryn Brooks scored 33 points, and Simone Deloach added 10 points and 7 rebounds. Indiana led by 17 points with 10:53 left in the game. But Marquette stormed back for a 22-8 run, and then it was a race to the finish. Marquette closed the gap to one point with 10 seconds left, but Indiana sealed the win with two free throws. Indiana advances to play the Northwestern-IUPUI winner at a date and location to be announced after Sunday’s game. Marquette ended its season at 22-11, and had four players score in double figures. Katie Young led the way with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Colorado 79, Southern Utah 68 Arielle Roberson led a balanced attack for Colorado as the Buffs advanced to the third round of the Postseason WNIT with a 79-68 victory over Southern Utah. Roberson had 15 points and 11 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season. Colorado (19-14) will play the winner of Monday’s Saint Mary’s at UTEP game at a date and location to be announced upon conclusion of that game. Southern Utah (23-10) completes its most successful season in school history. Carli Moreland led the Thunderbirds with 17 points.
